2 Way Radios for our rides

(You can listen to us on any GMRS radio on channel 15 with CTCSS code 15)
In October 2006 I purchased 2 Midland GMRS radios and 2 Midland helmet
headsets at Fry's in Oxnard.
Eric Grabowski and I tested them on a 30 minute ride in and around Ojai and they seem to work pretty well even at freeway speeds. Jeffrey Lardner bought this Midland radio after he saw this page and was our sweeper on the November ride and was also happy with how well it worked.  I have tried many types of 2 way radios and the sound quality on this Midland setup is the best that I've ran across other than the stock Honda Goldwing CB radios. We need these radios to keep communication between the leader and sweeper and the total price for 2 riders was $160 at Fry's.

Radios
The radio can be put on your belt or in your jacket's breast pocket once you set the volume.  The radios come in a 2 pack for $69 and that includes 2 battery packs, AC charger, DC charger and 2 Mic headsets which is different then the helmet headsets.
The model # is  GXT600VP4 and Fry's sku # is 4776089.
Check out Midland's site for more info on this radio.

Headsets
The headsets work on open and fullface helmets and are easy to attach and remove when you are done with the ride.  Included in each $39 helmet kit are helmet
speakers, boom microphone, handlebar mount PTT button and all the wiring harnesses needed to hook up to the 600 radio.  The model # is AVPH1 and Fry's sku is 3834700.
Check out Midland's site for more info on this headset.

Some of us have spent over $250 on 2 way gear which did not work once you
went past 30 mph so as you can see $169 for a complete setup for 2 on the
Midland GXT600VP4 is a very good deal.
