Hi Roy:
I just want to say thank you to
everybody who helped me out on Saturday after my crash:
Jeff Lardner,
Denise, George Crespi, Jerry, Bill(Cobb & Muneio), Mike and
especially you.
I am doing Ok considering. The doctor said that I
have:
1. Fractured rib on the left side under my arm.
2. Fractured left Patella(Knee Cap).
3. Sprained left knee(under the Patella).
4 Torn Hamstring in the right leg.
So with both legs hurting, it a
lot of fun getting around, plus I'm pretty sore everywhere. It's
interesting that most of my injuries are on my left side when the main
impact was on my right shoulder which feels fine. I think that when I
hit the embankment, I must have hit it with my left side.
I'm going to call the towing yard
today to find out what they need to release the bike and then I'll call
the MC towing service to have the bike brought to my house.
So that's the latest. It will be a while, but I'll be back riding ASIC. Please post this on the website.
And to everyone on the ride: thank you!, Thank You!!, THANK YOU !!!
Joe "Crash" Solis & Miriam Solis.

Hi Roy!
Just wanted to update you and the club about my condition:
Good news, I saw my orthopedist on the 17th and he said that
my left knee-cap was NOT broken and that the knee was not sprained; just sore
from the impact. I can now put full weight on it and use the leg almost
normally. The left knee still aches some when I use it to get up from a
chair or couch, but is definitely better. Also, my rib isn’t broken
either; the doctor thinks that I just ‘flexed’ the rib cage some
when I hit the ground, so again, its just sore, not fractured. My
breathing is normal and I can now sleep on my sides. My hamstring is now
what is giving me the most trouble; I still have to be REAL careful how I move
my right leg, but it’s improving and I am now able to limp along without
the crutches. Other than that I’m doing fine.
I tore down the bike this weekend and took stock on what has to be
replaced. Luckily, the plastic took all the damage and from what I could
see, the forks, frame, engine and swing-arm all look OK. I put the key in,
started the engine; it sounds fine and there were no fluid leaks. I
replaced the front brake fluid reservoir and bled the system and front brakes
work just fine. I did that first because I did not want to get too much
moisture in the brake fluid and corrode the brake system innards. The
handle bars were not damaged, but I’ll have to replace the brake and
clutch levers. I’ve already ordered the top-half of the tail
section and am shopping around for the other faring parts. I’ll
have the R1 back on the road in no time.
